As a voice writer, you’ll be expected to:
- Identify a peaceful area at home, ensuring you have zero disturbances while working.
- Prepare yourself with a suitable headset and microphone setup.
- Listen to live speakers at an event, and concurrently repeat their statements clearly and articulately. This repetition allows speech recognition software to generate real-time captions for the audience.
In addition to vocalizing spoken words, articulating punctuation, akin to using speech-to-text on mobile devices, is a requisite. For instance, you will say “PERIOD” at a sentence’s end or “QUESTION MARK” following a query.
Compensation Details and Application Steps
We sought clarification on compensation from 3Play Media, which advised that live voice writers typically earn $0.50 per captioned minute in addition to receiving up to 20 minutes of preparation time compensation before an event. Should events extend past designated times, writers can earn $0.55 per extra captioned minute.
