Exciting Opportunity: Remote Customer Service Representative at Optum

The Role & Responsibilities

In this full-time position, you will handle 60-80 incoming calls daily from pharmacy customers regarding order refills, order status, and pharmacy benefits. Additionally, some outbound calls will be necessary to discuss prescription orders and payment matters.

To qualify, applicants must hold a High School Diploma or GED and possess 2+ years of related work experience. Familiarity with Windows PC applications and basic skills in Microsoft Office Word and Excel are essential.

The salary range for this position is $16.00 – $28.27 per hour. Please note, states listed are not exhaustive – they simply indicate transparency in compensation in compliance with regulations.

Work Schedule

This role entails a standard 40-hour workweek, with flexibility to work any 8-hour shift from Sunday to Saturday between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm CST. During peak times, you may need to work overtime, including an additional day.

All new hires will undergo 100% mandatory training for three weeks, with sessions conducted virtually from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CST, Monday through Friday.

Key Duties Include:

  • Handle 60-80 incoming calls from home delivery pharmacy customers regarding refills and inquiries.
  • Document essential information accurately while adeptly managing calls.
  • Initiate outbound calls related to prescription orders and payment issues.
  • Support M3P programs and address related questions efficiently.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED OR over 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of one year in customer service, including phone interactions.
  • Competence in navigating computer systems and applications.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Ability to accommodate any of our 8-hour shifts while working on weekends.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience working in a call center.
  • Comfort with virtual learning and work environments.
  • Background in Digital platforms and systems (Web, Chat, email).
  • Familiarity with health care or insurance environments.

Telecommuting Criteria:

  • Must establish a designated, private workspace.
  • Commitment to securing sensitive documents.
  • A current, reliable high-speed internet connection is essential.
  • Direct internet connection via hardwire is mandatory.

Personal Qualities:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Anticipate handling a minimum of 50 calls daily.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

For residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Washington, Rhode Island, or Washington, D.C., the hourly wage for this position is between $16.00 – $28.27. Compensation varies based on a multitude of factors including local wage standards, educational background, and experience.
