Ekiti State Governor Announces New Work-from-Home Policy for Civil Servants

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has implemented a new work-from-home policy aimed at alleviating the impact of the ongoing economic challenges facing employees. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of civil servants in the region.

Details of the Work-from-Home Arrangement

In an official announcement made by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the governor revealed that this arrangement will take effect starting Monday, September 9, 2024. It’s important to note that essential personnel, such as teachers, healthcare workers, and security staff, will remain on-site to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

Work Schedule Breakdown

The new work-from-home guidelines specify a tailored schedule based on each officer’s position. Specifically:

  • Officers in levels 01 to 07 will work from home three days a week.
  • Officers in levels 08 to 12 will work from home two days a week.
  • Officers in levels 13 to 17 will work from home once a week.

Implementation and Future Reviews

According to Oyebode, it is essential for each Ministry, Department, and Agency to devise a feasible schedule for employees. This ensures that the new work-from-home policy does not hinder effective service delivery. The arrangement will remain in place for two months and will be subject to reviews based on the prevailing circumstances and economic conditions.

Complementary Measures by the State Government

Additionally, this work-from-home arrangement does not interfere with other supportive measures instituted by the state government. These include monthly wage awards for workers and pensioners and a free bus service for both employees and students, aimed at further supporting the state’s workforce.
