Google Struggles to Keep Up in the AI Arena
Since the advent of ChatGPT by OpenAI in late 2022, Google has found itself struggling to maintain its position in the competitive AI landscape. Earlier this year, Google introduced its advanced AI model, Gemini. However, the release quickly stirred controversy with critics labeling the platform as ‘discriminatory.’
Among several issues, Gemini faced backlash for creating historically inaccurate images, such as Black Vikings and a female Pope. Notably, Elon Musk, founder of X and the creator of an alternative AI solution, Grok, which prides itself on being ‘anti-woke,’ criticized Google, stating that the company’s ‘insane racist, anti-civilizational programming’ is evident to everyone.
In a bid to narrow the gap with its rivals, Google has launched an updated version of Gemini, coinciding with the release of its latest Pixel phones. While it’s uncertain whether this move will enable Google to catch up with its peers, one clear fact remains – Google’s flexible working policy cannot be blamed for these AI challenges.
