Enhance Your Resume with the National Archives Experience
If you’ve ever dreamed of enhancing your resume with a prestigious institution, adding experience from the US National Archives can be a transformative step. The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is crucial for preserving the historical records of the U.S. government. This includes iconic documents such as the Declaration of Independence and others that are equally vital yet less publicized.
For instance, among NARA’s collections are the Revolutionary War Pension Files, which contain claims for pensions and land warrants. These files often hold marriage records, military service details, and even personal diaries and family genealogies.
Currently, NARA is on the lookout for volunteers, known as Citizen Archivists, to transcribe such documents.

Military Award Index Cards (1942 – 1963)

Assist in transcribing documents for individuals claiming Choctaw or Chickasaw citizenship, which cover genealogical information and legal proceedings.

Charles H. Jennings Files (1924 – 1930)

Submarine Patrol Reports (1941 – 1945)
Assist in documenting submarine activities during WWII, detailing daily locations and special operations.
Navy Photograph Index (1941 – 1945)
Catalog informal photos of Navy personnel.
San Francisco Evacuee Files (1942 – 1946)
Transcribe files related to the property of individuals who faced evacuation due to wartime regulations.
