XProtocol Unveils Ethereum Phone XForge, Rivaling Solana Seeker

Excitement is brewing in the Web3 smartphone market as XProtocol gears up to launch its innovative Ethereum phone, XForge, aiming to outshine its competitors and undercut the Solana Seeker.

Advertised as the world’s first DePIN phone, the Android-based XForge puts a strong emphasis on gaming and entertainment, offering users a seamless and powerful experience. This high-performance device features 256GB of storage, 12GB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, optimizing it for various Web3 applications.

Key Features of Ethereum Phone XForge

One standout aspect of XForge is its strategic use of the layer-3 network for earning rewards, enabling users to participate actively in airdrops. Furthermore, XProtocol, which operates on Coinbase’s Base, a layer-2 scaling network, plans to transition to its own layer-1 network to achieve enhanced autonomy and scalability in the near future.

Maybe Web3 Smartphones Aren’t as Useless as We Thought

Can the Solana Saga 2 and the Aptos-integrated $99 JamboPhone warrant the legitimate need for a Web3 smartphone?

Priced competitively at $299, the XForge effectively undercuts the Solana Seeker, the successor to the Solana Saga. Moreover, users have the opportunity to earn a free node for every 10 XForge devices sold through referrals, along with a 10% commission on each sale.

Response to Solana Seeker and JamboPhone

During Token2049 in Singapore, Solana Mobile revealed that the Solana Seeker had already attracted 140,000 presales across 57 countries. Early adopter pricing for the Solana Seeker was set at $450, available until September 21, 2024. Interestingly, the first Solana Saga phone was launched in May 2023, initially priced at $999 but later reduced to $599 due to underwhelming specs (check out our detailed review here).

The Ethereum phone, XForge, offers a compelling alternative, especially considering that each Solana Saga included 30 million BONK tokens, adding to its allure and eventual sell-out. Still, the saga of Web3 phones doesn’t end there. Jambo is making waves with the introduction of its JamboPhone 2, integrated with Aptos and Solana ecosystems, priced affordably at $99.

Additionally, XProtocol has been bolstering its financial foundation, successfully raising $800,000 in a strategic funding round in July, pushing its total to $5.2 million. Participants include notable investors such as Saison Capital, Dragonfly, Razer, and Caballeros Capital.

An Exciting Future for Web3 Smartphones

Saison Capital Partner Qin En remarked, “XProtocol is pioneering a new era in blockchain technology. By merging the accessibility of mobile devices with decentralized networks, XProtocol is setting a new standard.”

On the flip side, while the XForge may offer a competitive edge with its pricing, it does face stiffer competition from JamboPhone, particularly given that the JamboPhone 2, revealed at Solana Breakpoint, comes at a mere $99. This affordable yet robust device, integrated with Aptos and equipped with next-gen JamboGPT for crypto education, is poised to capture the global Web3 market.
