Why Hybrid Work is Taking Center Stage Post-Pandemic
According to a pivotal study conducted by Zoom Video Communications Inc. and reported by Financial Post, the traditional remote work and in-office work models are no longer leading the charge in today’s workplace.
Instead, hybrid work models have emerged as the preferred choice for many organizations, with 64% of IT and executive leaders indicating a shift toward this balanced approach.
The research, carried out by Reworked Insights on behalf of Zoom, surveyed over 600 IT and executive leaders alongside nearly 1,900 employees globally. The results firmly establish that hybrid is the dominant working model, as companies customize their setups for maximum efficiency.
The application of hybrid work can differ considerably among businesses. Some may allow employees the flexibility to manage their hours while still participating in essential meetings at the office.
For others, hybrid arrangements might prescribe specific days for remote versus in-office work or base productivity on meeting results rather than hours logged. Similarly, larger firms are leaning towards a more remote-centric approach according to survey findings.
Geographic factors also play a role in shaping hybrid work models. North American organizations typically favor in-office arrangements more than their counterparts in other regions. Conversely, companies in the Asia Pacific (APAC) area show a stronger inclination towards remote work, while Western Europe seems to embrace hybrid setups.
Even as hybrid models become commonplace, workplaces continue to adapt. The survey underscores that 84% of leaders are making organizational changes to increase productivity, while 63% aim to attract a broader talent pool, and 47% strive to enhance their company culture.
